The Norwegian Nobel Committee has chosen Narges Mohammadi as the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023.

Narges Mohammadi is recognized for her courageous fight against the oppression of women in Iran.

She has dedicated her life to promoting human rights and freedom for all people, irrespective of their background.

The Nobel Committee also acknowledges the hundreds of thousands of people who protested against Iran's oppressive policies, especially those targeting women.

Narges Mohammadi was born on April 21, 1972, in Zanjan, Iran. She grew up in various places, including Qorveh (Kurdistan), Karaj, and Oshnaviyeh.

Despite her bravery, Narges Mohammadi has faced immense personal costs, including 13 arrests, five convictions, and a harsh sentence of 31 years in prison, along with 154 lashings. Sadly, she remains in prison today.
