“Punjab YouTuber Jasbir Singh Arrested for Alleged Spying for Pakistan; Linked to Jyoti Malhotra”

Punjab DGP stated that Jasbir Singh, operator of the YouTube channel ‘Jaan Mahal,’ had been in contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was recently arrested on charges of espionage.

Espionage Network Linked to YouTuber Jasbir Singh Uncovered in Punjab: DGP Gaurav Yadav

In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police have unearthed a terror-linked espionage network involving Jasbir Singh, a YouTuber from Mahlan village in Rupnagar. The revelation was made by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, who confirmed that the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, is spearheading the ongoing investigation.

Jasbir Singh, known for running a YouTube channel titled Jaan Mahal, has been found to have connections with individuals suspected of working with foreign intelligence agencies, including Pakistani operatives. According to DGP Yadav, Singh was in close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was recently arrested on charges of espionage.

Further investigations have also revealed Singh’s links with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish—a Pakistani national and an expelled official from the Pakistani High Commission. “Jasbir Singh attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi at Danish’s invitation, where he met with officials from the Pakistani Army and several vloggers from across the border,” DGP Yadav stated.

Adding another layer to the case, DGP Yadav disclosed that Jasbir Singh had maintained communication with PIO Shakir, also known as Jutt Randhawa, who is believed to be a key player in the terror-funded espionage network. “This is a serious case involving cross-border contacts and suspected intelligence gathering. The forensic examination of his devices has revealed several Pakistan-based contact numbers,” the DGP added.

Significantly, Singh had visited Pakistan on three separate occasions—in 2020, 2021, and most recently in 2024. Authorities believe these visits were not casual or personal but part of a larger, more concerning agenda. “Following Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Jasbir Singh took measures to erase digital footprints of his contacts with suspected Pakistani intelligence operatives. This clearly points to his awareness of the criminal nature of his associations,” said the DGP.

As part of the evidence-gathering process, Singh’s electronic devices have been seized and are currently under detailed forensic analysis. The findings so far include stored data containing links to individuals in Pakistan, some of whom are believed to be associated with the country’s military or intelligence agencies.

The DGP also mentioned that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at SSOC, Mohali, and investigations are actively underway. “The primary focus is to dismantle this espionage-terror network and bring all collaborators and facilitators to justice. This network appears to have deeper roots than initially suspected, with possible connections extending beyond state and national borders.”

This development comes shortly after explosive revelations in the case of Jyoti Malhotra, who was reportedly in contact with at least four Pakistani agents. A staggering 12 terabytes of sensitive data were recovered from Malhotra’s electronic devices, shedding light on the extensive operations of the network.

Security agencies are treating the matter with utmost urgency, as it raises critical concerns about how digital platforms like YouTube are being misused for cross-border intelligence activities. The incident has also prompted fresh scrutiny of attendees at foreign diplomatic events and the channels through which such invitations are extended.

The Punjab Police, in collaboration with central intelligence agencies, are now working to track down all individuals linked to this case. The state government has assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in activities that threaten national security.

As the investigation progresses, the focus will remain on tracing the flow of information, money, and digital communication across borders. The authorities are also exploring whether any classified or sensitive content may have been compromised and shared with foreign handlers.
